Ep 030 – Four Wines


Most of the wines we drink these days are research for the podcast. Not that I’m complaining, but this means that if we try a wine at a tasting or a friend’s house, it might not fit into an episode. These wines can be forgotten so we had an idea to switch up the format of the podcast this week to include a few wines we’re enjoying right now.

Bollig – Lehnert 2011 Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling Kabinett – priced around $20. This wine has aromas of honey, peach, apricot, rubber, petrol, and lemon with medium sweetness and medium acidity. Well balance and goes great with spicy Thai food.

Guenoc Lake County Petite Sirah 2013 – priced around $20. This wine smells like violets, plums, molasses, vanilla and slate.  It taste dry, with medium plus acidity, medium plus grippy tannins, with flavors of blackberry and plum. Pair this wine with grilled rib-eye and roasted root vegetables.

Les Pins Sacrés Pays D’Oc Pinot Noir 2015 – priced around $12. This Pinot Noir has a cherry, wet soil and mineral nose. It taste dry, with medium plus acidity, low tannins, med- body, with aromas of red berries, cranberry, plum and cedar. Pair this wine with turkey, pork, root veggies, anything with mushrooms and soft cheese.

Treveri Sparkling Gewurztraminer – priced around $17. This wine is so good! This wine is off-dry, medium plus acidity, flavors of lychee, stonefruit, starfruit, with a lightly creamy texture.
Pair this wine with balsamic-glazed duck legs, Thai red curry mussels, seafood stew with coconut and tomato, fontina cheese (light or nutty cheeses).
